KATHARSIS´ STORY

Since 1992 Mariella Brandusa and Octavian  have established a culture space in Nansensgade, Copenhagen. They aimed to promote a rich, nourishing form of artistical communication and to establish a constructiv dialog base beetwen artists and the culture interessed public in Denmark, by facilitating knowledge about art as both theory, practical skills, history of art, the form and content of art and estetics. And as Art in a profesional view cannot exist without Sciences, Philosophy, theology and a socio-politic context of the time, well therefore the name Culture Space.

During the years, many of the participants in the Katharsis cultural manifestations have become known both in the danish and on the international artistic scene.
The Cultural Space Katharsis is ruled by artists and therefore it never had a commercial purpose. This orientation have a benefical influence on the freedom of choise of events and projects: The new and experimental art forms, from exhibitions, video and performances, litterature and debate evenings, theater, media and more unclasifiable artistical and cultural gengre have a reliable proffesional open showroom.
What we want with our projects, which are to be presented in The Cultural Space Katharsis, is to create the proper frame for a nuanced collaboration between artists from Danmark and the international art world.

THE CULTURE SPACE PLAYS AN ENTITY’S ROLE IN BOTH ORGANISING PROJECTS AND SHOWING THEM, CREATING CONTACTS FOR ARTISTS AND CULTURE INTERESTED PEOPLE. THE CULTURE SPACE KATHARSIS IS SOMEBODY ELSE BUT THE GALLERY KATHARSIS OR KATHARSIS PUBLISHING.
